The Matrix Transform for Reconstruction on Finite-Element-Based Photoacoustic Tomography
نویسندگان
چکیده
Numerical Finite-element method (FEM) based algorithms have been widely applied for the reconstruction of the photoacoustic image. As compared with the traditional analytic methods, the FEM based methods can be easily used to deal with problems with irregularly shaped imaging domain. However, the FEM based algorithms are usually computationally intensive because repeated manipulations of matrices with larger size are needed during the reconstruction process. To tackle such a problem, a novel method is proposed for reducing the size of the matrix to be inversed during the reconstruction process and hence speed up the inverse reconstruction without any sacrifice of the reconstruction accuracy.

Stress Analysis of the Human Ligamentous Lumber Spine-From Computer-Assisted Tomography to Finite Element Analysis
Detailed investigation on biomechanics of a complex structure such as the human lumbar spine requires the use of advanced computer-based technique for both the geometrical reconstruction and the stress analysis. In the present study, the computer-assisted tomography (CAT) and finite element method (FEM) are merged to perform detailed three dimensional nonlinear analysis of the human ligamentous...
متن کاملFast System Matrix Calculation in CT Iterative Reconstruction
Introduction: Iterative reconstruction techniques provide better image quality and have the potential for reconstructions with lower imaging dose than classical methods in computed tomography (CT). However, the computational speed is major concern for these iterative techniques. The system matrix calculation during the forward- and back projection is one of the most time- cons...

Biomedical photoacoustic tomography (PAT) is a soft-tissue imaging modality which combines the high spatial resolution of ultrasound (US) with the contrast and spectroscopic opportunities afforded by imaging optical absorption. Planar US arrays composed of piezoelectric or optical detector elements with small element sizes and fast acquisition times are readily available, making them an attract...

Photoacoustic tomography (PAT) is an emerging non-invasiveimaging technique with great potential for a wide range of biomedicalimaging applications. However, the conventional PAT reconstructionalgorithms often provide distorted images with strong artifacts in caseswhen the signals are collected from few measurements or over an aperturethat does not enclose the object. In thi...
متن کاملA gradient-based method for quantitative photoacoustic tomography using the radiative transfer equation
Quantitative photoacoustic tomography (QPAT) offers the possibility of highresolution molecular imaging by quantifying molecular concentrations in biological tissue. QPAT comprises two inverse problems: (1) the construction of a photoacoustic image from surface measurements of photoacoustic wave pulses over time, and (2) the determination of the optical properties of the imaged region. The firs...
